...are there any songs that remind you of fall???

Today's BlogHer NaBloPoMo prompt is...

"Winter and summer are two seasons that have songs clearly associated with the time period. But are there any songs that remind you of fall?"

Well, no.

Unless "Dragula" by Rob Zombie counts.

Yeah.  Love that song.  Yeah.  I'm a Christian.  Yeah.  God forgives me.  I am not without sin.

{but that is for another blog post}

So I Google-d alllll sorts of  "Fall Playlists" and "Autumn Music"...

And it all sucked.

...so I looked at the "Top Ten Halloween Songs" according to Billboard...

Guess what made the list???  Yeah, Rob Zombie baby.

Here is the list, according to Billboard...

10. "Dragula" - Rob Zombie

My favorite.  Brings back memories to an incredible time in my life.  Enough. Said.

9. "A Nightmare on My Street" by D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

I couldn't find an official (decent) video for this one.  I thought I had forgotten this song, but remembered it once it started playing.

8. "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell

Totally freaked me out in fifth grade.  I think this should have been ranked higher {but not number one, that would go to Mr. Zombie}

7. "Runnin' with the Devil" by Van Halen

This just happens to be Big Daddy's very most favorite song of all time.  Old school Van Halen is his very most favorite band of all time.  I was five when this song came out.

6. "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult

Yeah.  I could never "got" Blue Oyster Cult.  I *think* I might have seen them in concert in the nineties.  Not my thing.

5. "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC

I don't necessarily think of this as a Halloween song, per se.  I just think of it as a classic song.

4. "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon

This is one of those songs that I hear, but never really remember.

3. "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr.

This song is now running through your head.  You're welcome.

2. "Monster Mash" by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers

Ugh.  I can not STAND this song...or any song from that era, for that matter.

1. "Thriller" by Michael Jackson

Any surprise here???  Not a bad number one choice.

So, there you have it...Billboard's Top Ten Halloween Songs.  Do you agree with the rankings?  What would you have changed or added?  You know my feelings.  Rob Zombie would have been number one...Thriller number two, and that creepy fifth grade music video {which isn't so creepy anymore} would be three.

What songs remind you of Halloween?  Which songs remind you of Fall?

{love to all}

...crunch crunch crunch: leaves are starting to carpet the sidewalks....

In an effort to get back into the world of blogging {did I ever really belong in the world of blogging?!?!?} I am following BlogHer's NaBloPoMo this month.

I have tried something like this before...and fizzled after about day two.

So here goes...today's topic...

Crunch crunch crunch: leaves are starting to carpet the sidewalks. Tell us about your favorite autumnal sound.

I found this ironic in two ways...

a) leaves are starting to carpet the sidewalks...well, maybe in the northeast or something.  Here in Saint Louis, it is currently 81 degrees (at 8:30 at night!) and we are in for severe storms {possibly tornadoes} tonight.  It was 90 degrees today, and is expected to be about 86 tomorrow.  My air conditioner is STILL running.  That being said, I saw a few random, blah, brown leaves {we have no trees, but our neighbor has one} on my lawn today.  Like five leaves.  The weather is supposed to turn cooler Thursday evening into Friday, but for now...I can't think much about fall leaves.

b) favorite sound of fall???  What the heck kind of question is that???  Does a season have a sound???  I suppose so {the crunching of said leaves, perhaps}  I am not sure if I ever gave it much thought.  I love the chirping of the birds in spring, the splash of the pool in the summer and heck, even the silence after a snowfall in the winter {you know me, finding ANYTHING good about winter is amazing in and of itself} but fall???  Fall is a wonderful time of the year...the colors; the crisp, clear blue sky and cool air; the holidays; but what sound makes fall, fall????

For me...I suppose I love the sound of...college football.

Weird, right???

Not really.  I love the fight songs, I love the cheers, I love the crowd, I even love the announcers.  My heart lies with the Mizzou Tigers but I also am fond of the Florida Gators {thanks to Big Daddy, and before that a goofy ex-boyfriend}.

 There is just something about the combination of all things fall, and watching a game on a Saturday afternoon that just makes me happy.  As happy as I can be knowing winter is just. around. the. corner.

What is your favorite sound of fall???
